The Incumbancy Process

On the 26th of June, 2022, we farewelled our previous Vicar, the Rev’d Stephen May, who retired. We are incredibly thankful for the ministry that he and Kathryn gave in their time here, but we also look to the future of where God is leading us as a parish. In this interim period as we wait for a new vicar to be appointed and to come there are a few things happening.

Whilst we await the new vicar, we will have a locum minister, who will oversee the parish. The Locum will be working 3 days a week, and will be present at our 11am Thursday Service, 10am Saturday 3081 Service, and the 9am and 10:30am services on Sundays. Our Locum will also be overseeing the staff team. Should you have a ministry need in this time, you can either speak to our ministry staff team or to the locum.

Alongside this our incumbency committee are working hard to prayerfully choose the right person to be our next vicar. They will work closely with our Area Bishop, Bp Genieve, and Archdeacon Vanessa Bennett. If someone is felt to be the right fit, then their name will be put forward to the Archbishop, who will then send a letter of offer. Should the person say yes, they will then go through clearances. Once clearances have gone through then a public announcement will be made.

For us as we wait, we spend this time praying ourselves, that God would bring a faithful minister to be the vicar here, that God would be going before this process, and that God would be helping prepare us to have soft open welcoming hearts to the new vicar, and we continue to faithfully be disciples of God here.
