Christmas Greetings

Peace on Earth
As we celebrate the birth of Jesus this year, I pray that you and your loved ones will truly experience the presence and peace that the Lord Jesus brings.  We do not necessarily find that peace when we are surrounded by friends and family, or through the love expressed in the gifts that we give and receive.  We certainly struggle to find that peace in the busy – ness and clutter of the lead up to Christmas.
Instead, we find Jesus through being open to letting Him speak to us.   We can let Jesus speak to us through reading again the stories of His birth found in Matthew and Luke.  We can let Jesus speak to us by listening to and singing the Christmas Carols both new and old.   We can let Jesus speak to us by having an open heart and mind as we pray and as we listen to the word preached.
The experience of Jesus peace is intimately related to the experience of His presence.  My prayer tonight/today is that you will be not merely enjoy our Christmas worship, but that the seed of God’s peace will be sown into your hearts by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Finally, in this age of anxiety and stress, we find Jesus peace when we truly trust our lives, and our futures into His hands.  As you look to 2018, with all its uncertainties, and all its possibilities, may you know that the Lord holds you in the palm of His hand and that he holds your future safe and secure.
May the Lord bless you all with a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
